The Ecological Benefits of Hemp
Hemp is a hardy, fast growing plant that thrives in many different climates. It grows well with much less use of fertilizers and pesticides, much more than can be said for cotton.
Growing hemp is much more efficient than growing cotton for textiles and other uses. The same amount of land growing hemp can produce 2 to 3 times as much fiber as it would if cotton were grown.
The processing of hemp is a lot more environmentally friendly than making clothes out of cotton.

 

The Cost of Hemp Clothes
One reason why mainstream shoppers have not switched entirely to buying clothes and other things that are made from hemp is because they usually cost a little more. A big reason for this increase in prices is because growing hemp is now illegal in the United States, so anything made from it has to be imported. Most of the hemp used throughout the world today is grown in China and exported. Although the price may be a touch higher, it is well worth it. First of all, hemp clothing lasts a lot longer than clothes made from cotton since it is such a durable fabric.
